Claymore Chapter 105 : Revenge’s Course

Continuing from previous chapter, Clare was on the verge of her death as she lost her arms and legs. After saying her last words, she was totally consumed by the huge clump of youki. Helenn and Deneve didn’t have much time to be sad and grieving as Priscilla appears in front of them. The game of cat and mouse finally comes to an end.

Priscilla had not realized that Clare was already dead and she was wondering where Clare was. Helenn and Deneve realized that their time were almost up and their death wouldn’t be far too long from Clare’s. Helenn launched a desperate attack on Priscilla which was easilly parried and countered by Priscilla. Deneve followed right after and tried to attack from behind, however, she didn’t have a chance to land anything on her as Deneve already was attacked by multiple tentacles from Priscilla.

Priscilla got both Helenn and Deneve immobilized then she asked where Clare was. Helenn couldn’t help but shed her tears and mumbled if only Priscilla didn’t exist in the first place. After that, Deneve mentioned that Clare was already dead and Priscilla was surprised. Priscilla couldn’t believe it then she attacked Deneve again while murmuring why she died so easily and the purpose of her coming so far.

Out of nowhere. that black shadow existence that swallowed up Clare pierced through Priscilla’s body. Surprisingly none of those attacks hit Helenn and Deneve. Helenn certainly didn’t miss out this chance to save Deneve and Priscilla was not about to let this happen. As Helenn was about to get hit, Priscilla got attacked some more from that black shadow existence.

Meanwhile, Uma and Cynthia observed that huge clump of youki kept spreading larger and larger from above the cliff. Cynthia could feel Helenn and Deneve’s youki inside that huge clump of youki. Dietrich appeared from behind and she intended to save both Helenn and Deneve since she owed her life to both. In addition, she mentioned that debt must be paid. Yuma told her to stay back as she doubted that Dietrich could do much with that kind of injuries from previous fights but Dietrich ignored Yuma’s advice and jumped down. Cynthia felt like they needed to watch it to the end so she asked Yuma to follow Dietrich.

Back to inside clump of youki, Deneve and Helenn, Helenn kept on running while carrying Deneve. Priscilla was getting antsy after being attacked numerous times and with one sweep, she destroyed all the clumps around her. The clump of youkie was an appropriate replacement since Clare was dead already. She was getting ready to unleash her full power.

After running for a while, Helenn managed to bring Deneve to a safe place. Deneve used this time to recover her arm but she was almost running of her youki, thus, she was on the verge of being awakened. Fortunately, Yuma arrived right on time and managed to calm Deneve’s youki, meanwhile, Dietrich checked the surrounding area. Even though it’s safe, she suggested to keep running away from huge clump of youki.

Seeing Clare was not with them, Yuma inquired Deneve and Helen about where Clare was. Before they had a chance to answer, Cynthia mentioned that she could feel Clare’s youkie inside that huge clump of youki. Clare’s final word to Deneve was that she must stop that huge clump of youki. Apparently after Clare realized that she had no chance against Priscilla, she decided to become one with the huge clump of youki in order to exact her revenge and save her friends.

Is Claymore manga nearing the end since the main character, Clare, died ? Unless, there’s some miracles in future chapters that brings back Clare, I can see that Claymore manga is heading toward the finish line.

Claymore Chapter 102 : The Akuma that Swooped Down

Claymore chapter 102 has come upon us. Scanlation was slightly late than usual on onemanga.com but rest assured, it’s here and everyone is happy ^^. Continuing from previous chapter, Dietrich appears before Cynthia and Uma. Even though she was a single digit warrior, I was thinking that she would not be much help fighting those opponents since they are just too many of them.

Well…. being a smart girl that she is, she brings the whole troop of Abyssal Eaters along with her unexpectedly.

They both seem to be evenly match at first but Abyssal Eaters have the upper hand later on from the look of it. Theirs’ regeneration ability is second to none in my opinion which gives them an advantage in this major brawl.

Despite losing its lower body parts, it can still regenerate as if it was nothing. Who would have though that abyssal eaters turned out to be useful. It’s mystery how Dietrich managed to lure them here because she said that they lost track of a scent and these abyssal eaters don’t differentiate between friends and foes. They just destroy everything on their path. So anyone has theory how she managed to lure them ?

In addition, abyssal eaters are immune to parasites and they cannot be taken over by those spears.

Abyssal eaters ignore those spears embedded on their body and keep eating since their consciousness was taken away from them and they are free to eat anything they want. In a sense, they only have an intense hunger for the target. How did Dietrich manage to remove their consciousness ? It would not be an easy task considering abyssal eaters are just some wild animals and she mentioned that she got demoted because she failed her last mission so I highly doubt that the organization gave her the ability to control these abyssal eaters.

Removing their consciousness disables the limiter in place on the abyssal eaters. Having a consciousness apparently is a weakness.

Meanwhile, Deneve still desperately tries to escape from Priscilla since all those spears don’t seem to slow her down. She has no choice other than to give Claire to Helen so she concentrates on Priscilla. Winning is not an option here so best she can do is to slow her down and let Clare and Helen escape.

Taking advantage of the Destroyer’s creatures, she slashes them in attempt to slow Priscilla down with those spears but resistance is futile.

Priscilla goes ahead and nothing is stopping her.

Deneve and Helen argue with each other as Helen refuses to run away with Clare as she would rather die together with Deneve than running away.

When all hope seems to fade away, unexpected reinforcement comes at right moment to aid Deneve and Helen. It was not exactly a reinforcement since it’s just Dauff going berserk at Priscilla since she killed Riful

Dauff keeps pounding on Riful in attempt to release him for his grieve of losing Riful.

Priscilla does not stay quiet for long. With one swing, Dauff right arm tears apart.

It’s been a while since she saw Priscilla awakened form (since her fight with Teresa I believe). She is pissed since everyone is getting on her way. I should be interesting to see the full power of awakened Priscilla.

Thoughts

To be honest, I didn’t expect that Abyssal eaters would come to help since when I saw Dietrich in the last chapter, I was expecting those three would run away and somehow managed to survive with the help Dietrich. Now with the help of Abyssal eaters, they are just waiting until those two groups are done fighting then just cleans whatever left over. One point still remains a mystery on how Dietrich manages to control those Abyssal eaters and removes the limiter.

Meanwhile, we may finally be to see the full extend of Priscilla’s strength in the next chapter since throughout the story, she rarely appears in her awakened form. On the other hand, Clare, Deneve and Helen’s chance to survive is going down a hill.

Claymore Chapter 101 : Wedge

Here comes Claymore chapter 101 : Wedge after a month of waiting. Continuing from previous chapter, Clare’s final trump card seems to have failed her and I doubt she has more backup plans. Awakened = #fail.

After her first fail attempt, she attempts another awakened form starting with her legs then her extended arms.

As she was about to attack Priscilla, her awakened form reverted back for no reasons.

In my previous chapter summary, I thought that Rafaela’s power stopped Clare’s awakened form, however, as strong as Priscilla is, she does not have that kind of power. Although it would be terrifying to see if she does actually have that kind of power; she reverts her opponents’ awakened form and kill them.

Even Clare has not realized it yet that she is no longer capable to awaken herself because she puts a restriction herself unconsciously after she accidentally got awakened during the battle of the North seven years ago and she was put back to normal by the help of Jean.

Clare is very lucky to have some loyal comrades and trusted friends. Despite her idiotic or careless behaviour of attacking Priscilla without second thought, Deneve and Helen still plan to rescue her.

Priscilla’s destroying her easily; kicking her left and right without much effort. I wonder why she would not just kill Clare right away instead of toying and wasting time with her. I guess she’s still looking for an answer as of why she follows Clare’s scent.

Taking advantages of the spears unleashed by Rafaela-Luciela combination, Deneve grabs Clare and runs away as fast as possible.

Meanwhile, Uma and Cynthia seems to have survived. It’s been a while since we heard anything about what happened to Uma and Cynthia.

Surprisingly, Cynthia is still alive after losing half of her body; props to Uma for having to be able to synchronize with Cynthia and heal her. Cynthia is not able to move yet, meanwhile, Uma is still recovering her youki. Despite all of those, Uma is under attack.

At the last minute as Uma’s about to be killed, Dietrich appears out of no where.

Thoughts

I feel like the fight against Priscilla and Luciela-Rafaela combination is kinda dragging since the author just shows couple small fights, meanwhile, I am expecting full and all out fights against Priscilla and Luciela-Rafaela. Am I the only who thinks that way or do you guys , Claymore fans out there, feel the same way?. In addition, I want to see more actions from Myria/Uma/Cynthia. I wish the author shows us how Uma healed Cynthia instead of skipping the whole scenes.

Claymore Chapter 100 : Meeting With a Mortal Enemy

This chapter is doubly special. Not only it’s the first chapter released in 2010, it’s also the 100th chapter. The first chapter released in 2010 is either chapter 99 which was in Jump SQ February 2010 and it’s released on January or chapter 98 in Jump SQ January 2010 and it’s released on December 2009 so depends on how you look at it chapter 98 or 99 can be the first chapter released in 2010 (thanks for the correction from KazeTsukai). Being first and 100th leads us to believe that something special is happening in this chapter and it seems to meet my expectation or any Claymore fans out there.

Most of us are longing for an all-out fight between the main characters and Awakened beings for as long as I can remember, thus, this chapter could be the pioneer of it. Priscilla vs Clare (+Helen and Denieve). I am sure you guys know what’s Clare sole reason to become a Claymore which was told in earlier chapters. In case you forgot, her sole reason is to kill Priscilla. In order to achieve her goal, she does not hesitate to go fully awaken.

On the other hand, Priscilla does not remember Clare at all and she was following Clare’s scent all this time. When she finally meets with Clare, she does not know who she is due to her memory loss.

After 100 chapters, we all know what kind of person Clare is. In my opinion, she is definitely the type of “action first, think later” like how she almost went full awakened fighting Ricardo in the North or how she was trying to separate from Cynthia and Uma. In this case, her action is not exception. Without thinking about the result, she blindly attacks Priscilla even though she should have already known that Priscilla is that much stronger than she is.

Well…. Clare was easily defeated as Priscilla barely moves nor makes any effort to defend Clare’s attacks.

Clare is in a pinch ? >.> Luckily she still has Helen and Denieve who are desperately trying to rescue her and get Priscilla away from her.

Seeing Priscilla shows an opening, Clare surely does not miss this chance and she starts attacking her again.

Clare’s efforts manage to cut Priscilla’s arm, although, I doubt it gives Clare any meaningful advantage.

Priscilla counters and scraps off Clare’s shoulder and part of her limb. Everything comes with a price, I guess.

I just realized that Clare never told her comrades about Priscilla nor her past about why she became a Claymore warrior. Seeing Priscilla made Clare losing her mind and she ignores Denieve’s warning about Priscilla. Revenge consumes her mind totally. Considering that her sole purpose of living and surviving all those battles is to kill Priscilla.

I needed to read this page twice before I could figure it out who Lucky is. Lucky = Raki. Not sure why it got changed from Raki to Lucky.

Clare intends to go all out since the beginning so she let herself to be awakened just like how she did during War of the North. Back then, she was pretty lucky that she managed to go back to herself, however, this time she may not be able to go back

For a second, it looks like Clare has the upper hand and is slicing left and right but……

Her extended arms are cut into pieces even though Priscilla barely moves at all.

Clare’s plan to go fully awakened has failed due to an unexpected incident.

Thoughts

I was being unreasonable when I was expecting a fight against Priscilla to last as long as possible. So far, every fight against Priscilla ends within matter of seconds. Even though it only lasts for couple seconds, I am quite satisfied seeing a fight between Clare and Priscilla. The author is truly an expert with having a cliffhanger at the end of each chapter and make us, the fans, wanting for more.

Something weird is happening to Clare and it causes her not to be able to fully awakened. As far as I can see, Priscilla does not seem to have done anything to Clare. Could it be Rafaela’s power preventing Clare’s from fully awaken ? That’s the only reasonable explanation that I can think of other than Priscilla tears Clare’s awakened form apart. I thought Clare would have gone fully awakened and gone berserk but she only goes for half awakened and maintains her consciousness.

T.T the next chapter will be out in April. It will be a long wait…… >.>. Chapter 100 is available at onemanga.com.

Claymore Chapter 99 : Craving Flesh and Blood

This is little bit unexpected. A new claymore chapter came out early than usual released time which is the beginning of the month. My craving for more claymore chapters has been fulfilled earlier ^^.

Continuing from previous chapter, Priscilla pretty much owned everyone. Even the awakened form of Alicia and Beth couldn’t even scratch her. Last attempt to kill Priscilla was sending those spears to control her, however, it was a futile attempt as Priscilla broke it off without much effort.

After she’s done with Alicia and Beth, she goes to where Riful and Dauf are. Apparently Riful’s youki catches Priscilla’ attention since they both met before in the past.

Riful notices that Priscilla is on her way to where she is so she tells Dauf to run away, however, her warning is little bit too late

Seeing Priscilla here, Dauf threatens her that if something happens to Riful, he won’t let her get away with it. Threats are meaningless to Priscilla as she can rip every one a part in a matter of seconds.

First, Dauf loses his legs and arms then she ripped out part of his body.

Seeing Dauf being tortured, Riful can’t stand still but with her current condition, she is no match to Priscilla.

Consuming villagers weren’t enough for Priscilla so she’s consuming Riful

Meanwhile, lets go back to Claire, Denieve and Helen who are preparing for the next round of spear attacks from Rafaela + Luciela combined monster.

Clare leads her fellow friends dodging incoming spears quite easily. Is this the new power given by Rafaela to Clare before she turned into a monster ?

While being bombarded by those spears, Clare continues to feel a peculiar youki and she’s trying to recall her memory of where she felt that youki before.

Clare finally remembers where and when she felt that youki before. She instantly loses control and pushes her limit to being awakened.

Her sole purpose to live to this day and the reason why she turns herself into a Claymore warrior is to kill Priscilla, the one who killed her precious person, Teresa.

We can expect an all-out battle between Clare and Priscilla in the next chapter. Priscilla may be undefeated so far, however, Clare can be full of surprises. Remember how she almost turned into an awakened being during the North battle years ago ? She did it just to increase her battle power and speed. Who knows what she is actually capable for right now and it’s still not clear what kind of new power that Rafaela gave to her.
