2 greatest loots (arguably of course) arrive on January and February consecutively and both of them are probably my two most expensive loots of this year.
Nanoha Takamachi Exceed Mode 1/7 by Alter
I just picked up my Nanoha at the post office tonight and was quite shocked with the custom fee. I was charged CAD$37 which is higher than usual because it’s usually around CAD$25. Nanoha and Fate are almost at the same price so I would expect ~$25 custom fee. I guess it all depends the mood of the officer who was examining my stuff. Does anyone experience a sporadic custom fee too in your country?

The other loot is Black Rock Shooter. It arrived 2 weeks prior to my Nanoha and I still haven’t opened it yet ^^;; since the box is nice enough to be on display. In addition, it’s a medium size so it does not take up that much space.

The difference in the customs cost, incidentally, has to do with Duty. In Canada, there’s technically a 6% duty on most of this stuff (in addition to GST + PST or HST), but they’re sort of inconsistent in terms of when they apply it. And of course, there’s the $10 processing fee. So on the first order, it’s around $140 CDN * 19% or so (depending on what province you live in) + $10 = ~$37 taxes/fees. And on the second, they didn’t charge you duty for whatever reason, so it’s just ~$106 CDN * 13% + $10 = ~$24-25 taxes. And every once in a while you might luck out and they won’t charge you anything; it’s sort of the luck of the draw.
Maybe there is some sort of rule about when they are and aren’t supposed to charge duty, but it sure seems random to me…
Based on my experience, I never got charged with less then $20 on the custom fee and most items with less than $100 value are not charged with custom fee either so my assumption is that if it’s more than $100 and/or $20 in taxes, I will get charged.
The only weird thing this time is that I got charged $37 on Nanoha while I was charged $25 on Fate. Both has more less the same price so that’s why I thought it’s random.
Two beautiful figure ^^ BRS is a must have for her originality (base, appareance, gun) and Nanoha is a great figure with ^^ Nice haul !

I’m sure u already know, there’s not custom fee unless the item or item(s) is over 1000AUD in Aus, so I can never fully understand how ppl like u feel on this matter.
Meronpan pointed this out but there is a typo on “Exced” on the back of the box. It’s funny I didn’t pick this out at first sight. -_-

Yep >.< , I remembered that you mentioned that to me a while ago. There is not much I can do about it and keep telling myself that at least it’s not $50 like in Europe.
Oh wow, I didn’t notice the typ0 either until you mentioned it ^^;;. I got Nanoha ~Stand By Ready~ next month and BRS blade version on April assuming they won’t be delayed. I will be canceling my Saber Lily Alter version which is coming out next month. So far nothing is preordered for May and June ^^.

I am guessing BRS is more heavy due to her base. Weight is another major factor in determining the shipping cost.
I should have some space to display her along with Fate. Bought a couple of these from IKEA.
Oh the wall mounted ones, but 19cm for depth? I have bought a Billy in December and Fate’s base still sticks out like a sore thumb for me with a depth of 26cm (thanks to her lovely hair that takes up a lot of space) ._.

Ooh got the BRS, eh? I pre-ordered the Black Blade version because I’m cheap, lol. I’m kinda glad I don’t go crazy with Nanoha otherwise I’d be spending money on those Alter figures like toilet paper on a diarrhea.
