Another Otaku’s blog about Anime, Figures, Games and Various Events
My 2nd Caren Hortensia figure which I bought from Anime North 2008 back in May. The first one is made by Griffon Enterprise (check my entry for the other Caren Hortensia figure) while this one is made by Kotobukiya. It’s an old figure and originally released in September 2006. Hobby Link Japan has this figure in stock in case anyone is interested ^^.
I wish I know more about Caren aside from the obvious source (wiki) and other various anime site. I haven’t played the game so I don’t really know a lot about her and I don’t think I am going to play the game anytime soon ^^;; since it’s in Japanese.
For this photoshoot, I decided to use yellow background just because I feel like it lol and since Caren’s clothes are mostly black, the yellow background blends easily with black clothers (at least I think so ^^). After couple photoshoot sessions, I suddenly feel like doing outdoor photo shoot. It was cloudy when I did it but it didn’t really stop. The setting was on my house backyard which is unattended and makes a great place for outdoor photo shoot sessions.
This figure comes with a base but I decided not to use it.
I have nothing to complain regarding this; good sculpture and nice painting all around. I love details on her eyes ,although, the wooden base could have been better. I think the outdoor photo shoot came out better than the indoor ones. It seemed to come out little bit darker than I expected. What do you guys think ?

@Zenical: Thanks ^^
@e-jump: you are not the 1st one that said her expression is bland ^^. The GSC version is 1/6 I believe and I will get it eventually if I can find one. And also the alter version.
@ETERNAL: Thanks ^^
Old figures looks real different from figures now…
Still, it’s a pretty good figure!!!
Nice job on the outdoor shoot!!!

@Rin: You think so ? looks not much different between old and recent figures for me.
@Optic: The outdoor shoot came out really good despite the cloudy weather. I am thinking of doing photoshoot while it’s raining.
@M12: Thx ^^
Can’t wait to do my Akatsuki Mishiro photoshoot.
To improve outdoor shoot lightings.. you can try editing brightness/color of the photo.. My friends who do figurine outdoor shoots like weekly or monthly with other otaku friends, taught me that.. in my lucky star nendoroid review(hope you saw thatXD) I edited a picture which was really dim to be extremely bright. Think it looked alright, like the sun was shinning on the water itself that caused the surroundings to be so bright XD. (It’s the Konata as Saber at the pool scene) Yeah. It took me awhile before I got comfortable with editing the pictures with ease =P you should try too. Lol.

Im late at this but anyway:
I like your choice of background for your indoor pictures.It goes well with her eyes and is a nice contrast to her dark clothes.
Are you planning to do all your outdoorpictures in your backyard or are you planning on going in public some time? XD
@Zenical: Thx for the tips. I will give it a try next time and I probably need a lot of practice before I can comfortably edit photos with Photoshop ^^;;
@Gordon: Hey Gordon, you are back ?
. Yah outdoor shoot is easier to do than indoor ^^:;
@Blowfish: Going in public soon hopefully ^^
